Ogun State Police Arraign 64-year-old Man, Others For Homosexuality

An Ogun State Chief Magistrate's Court, sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, on Monday remanded a 64-year-old man, Oluwasegun Adesina-Rasheed, for alleged homosexuality on Friday.

The court also remanded two other persons, Samad Ojo, 20, and 18-year-old Ope Abeeb over the same offence.

Chief Magistrate Anthony Araba ordered that the three accused persons be remanded at the Ibara Prison, Abeokuta.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Banji Sangotokun, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on February 14 at about 11.30pm at the Iwe-Iroyin area, Oke-Ilewo in Abeokuta.

The police prosecutor said the three accused persons conspired to commit homosexuality cheesy.

Sangotonkun added that the three men were caught in the indecent act inside the first accused's (Adesina-Rasheed) Honda CRV jeep.

The police prosecutor said the offence committed by the accused persons contravened Sections 516, 214 (3) and 217 of the 2006 Criminal Law of Ogun State.

The first accused, who resides at Adenekan Street, Elite Road, Idi Aba, Abeokuta, and the two others of no fixed address, however pleaded not guilty to the two counts of conspiracy and homosexuality.

The application for bail by the counsel for the accused, Kehinde Amosa, was rejected by the court.

Chief Magistrate Araba then adjourned the case to February 24 for mention.
