Samson Siasia Returns as Nigeria U-23 Coach

Former Super Eagles' coach, Samson Siasia
Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has been appointed to lead the country's U-23 team. The Nigeria Football Federation announced his appointment on Thursday alongside other appointments just as they relieved Eagles coach Stephen Keshi of his position.
A communiqué signed by executive committee member of the NFF Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, "The Committee also appointed Mr. Samson Siasia as the new Head Coach of the U-23 men's team. He will be assisted by Fatai Amoo, while the Technical and Development will recommend the other members of the crew."
He will be assisted by Fatai Amoo, who was originally listed to head the team by the previous board of the NFF.
Apart from coaching the senior team, Siasia in the past led the U-20 and the U-23 teams. He was in charge of the Nigerian team to 2008 Beijing Olympics in which the country played the final match of the football event. Argentina powered by Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria beat Nigeria to the gold medal.
He was sacked as Eagles coach in October 2012 after he failed to qualify the country to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations paving the way for Keshi to become the Nigeria coach.
