Former Super Eagles' coach, Samson Siasia
A former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has said it would be a very difficult challenge to build a strong team for the national U-23 men's team ahead of their first competitive game in February 2015.
Siasia, who won silver with the team at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, was recently officially appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation to manage the team ahead of the 2015 All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo.
But the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship silver-winning coach told Lagos Sports Radio, Brila FM, that leading the team into victory in their first match will be a great challenge adding that he is still optimistic that he can build a team of players that will give a favourable result in the short period.
Siasia said, "There are a lot of challenges when it comes to trying to get things down especially, screenings. It's a long process and from what I have been told, the first game is in February and that isn't too far, we even haven't started anything.
"It's a very difficult job but with hard work I think we could get it done. What we have now is like a rush-rush thing, trying to get the players that we believe can help us play the first few matches."
