The Nigerians in Diaspora Monitoring Group (DMG) has thrown its weight behind the anti-corruption drive of President Muhammadu Buhari describing it as a milestone in the country's history.

The group said that the new drive is changing the face of the country's foreign policy positively and that the new attitude of the federal government towards accountability is already paying off in the way Nigerians are treated outside the shores of the country.

"Nigerians are again able to hold our heads high across the world in all the countries where we sojourn because the stigma of ranking the country amongst the most corrupt nations of the world is waning in the wake of President Buhari's stance against graft,'' the statement stated.

In an electronic statement made available to LEADERSHIP signed by Engineer David Onmeje, it described the fight against corruption by the federal government as laudable, noting that it must be sustained and spread across all sectors in the country.

The group also hailed the gains made under the leadership of the Director General, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr Paul Orhii in what it described as an "intensive efforts to strengthen one of the most crucial sectors to humans worldwide."

The statement in part read , ''The ongoing institutional strengthening by the leadership of NAFDAC under Dr Orhii should be sustained to ensure that the international accreditation Nigeria got in recent years would not be withdrawn.

''We are confident that the style of the likes of NAFDAC Director General, Dr Paul Orhii can add value to the anti-corruption fight. This is because the post corruption war would require the establishment of systems that would prevent a return to impunity in public office and from records available to the public, he has been able to set up such institutional mechanism to ensure optimum running of government agencies.''

"Nigerians, at home and in the diaspora would love to continue to enjoy the renewed respect they now enjoy worldwide and this would only be possible by further deepening and strengthening systems." The statement said.

It noted that there is need for continuity in agencies that are working while, ''Holistic reviews should be priority for agencies that have shown persistent stagnancy, the statement recommended.
