SPORTS AS A SYMBOL OF THE ACTING PERSON

Philosophical reflections have seldom centred on sports or made sports a topic of discourse. However, the development and professionalization of sports has launched it into philosophy in terms of its advancement, ethical dimension, transcendental perspective, epistemological notions and its metaphysical underlining; and therefore shall be viewed under this systematic, logical and critical lens.

Sports, over the years, has seen or witnessed a host of transformations, advancements and developments. Its significance to life has left the mere and inconsequential position it once occupied and has risen above the status of being just a 'game'. Sport, today, is Life itself.
Due to unanswered questions lurking around in sports, the unresolved problems threatening to bring down this beautiful entity to its feet and the unexplored areas that can launch it to greater heights, we seek a deeper and phenomenological understanding. After all, we replaced Marx's 'religion' with 'sports' as the opium of the people.
