Meek Mill will not be granted a hearing regarding his probation violation until September.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Meek Mill had been sentenced to 3 to 6 months in county jail, following a probation violation. Rick Ross, the head of Meek Mill's label, Maybach Music Group, cleared things up shortly thereafter, suggesting that the jail time would likely consist of only a few weeks. It seems that Rozay may have underestimated the severity of the situation however, as a new report indicates that Meek will not be given a hearing until September.
While the rapper's legal team filed a petition for an emergency court date, hoping to get Meek out of jail as quickly as possible, the request has been denied by Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley. The judge stated that no such hearing could be held until September.
"All I'm asking for is a hearing to learn why [his jailing] is constitutional and they won't even give me that," said Mill's attorney, Christopher Warren, yesterday.
Warren and fellow attorney Dennis Cogan plan to file for a writ of mandamus, in which a higher court
would request Brinkley to hold an emergency hearing at an earlier date.
The legal team maintains that Meek has done nothing that would warrant his probation being revoked, and that the rapper should have been given two hearings and written notice of his violations ahead of time.
