The $3billion purchase price includes Beats Music, the sister company that runs a subscription streaming music service. As part of the deal, Beats co-founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine will join Apple in undisclosed roles.

"That's why we have kept investing in music and are bringing together these extraordinary teams so we can continue to create the most innovative music products and services in the world."This acquisition is Apple's biggest and largest acquisition since the inception of the company. Apple made $171 billion revenue last year, while Beats made $2 billion.
After plenty of reports a few weeks back about Apple purchasing Beats Electronics, the news has been confirmed and officially announced in a press release today. The initial report stated the sale of Beats was for $3.2 billion, but we've learned today it was for $3 billion– $2.6 billion in cash, and $400 million in stocks.
Following news of the sale, an alleged Beats co- founder came out of the woodwork with a lawsuit directed towards Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, demanding some of the profits. As we reported on, Dre and Iovine are going to take on management positions at Apple for the Beats company.
