Sam Smith’s dad helped lighten the mood for his son ahead of the tonight’s (Feb. 28) Oscars by sending the singer a pretty hilarious gift — an unripe banana with some choice word of encouragement.
“Hope you get lucky at your after-show party,” reads a hand-written note from his father on the green banana. Smith shared a photo of the peculiar present on Instagram ahead of Sunday’s Oscars. See the pic below.
Smith is nominated in the best original song category for the song “Writing’s On The Wall,” from the latest James Bond film, Spectre. The British act is going up such fellow artists as Lady Gaga (“Til It Happens To You” from The Hunting Ground) and The Weeknd (“Earned It” from Fifty Shades of Grey).
