Ambode Blames Jonathan For Chibok Girls Abduction

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has blamed the Goodluck Jonathan led administration for mismanaging the issue of the abduction of the Chibok girls.

The over 200 girls were abducted in April 14, 2014 by Boko Haram from their school in Chibok, Borno and have not been seen since then. A protest march was organized by the #BringBackOurGirls group on Thursday, August 27 to commemorate the 500 days since the girls were abducted.

The group marched from Allen Avenue, Ikeja to the governor’s office at Alausa to urge the governor to use his capacity as a member of the ruling party to urge President Muhammadu Buhari to make the release of the girls a priority as emphasized in his inaugural speech.

Governor Akinwunmi AMbode in his response appreciated the effort taken by the group to push for the release of the girls. He blamed the past government for what he considered its lackadaisical attitude towards the release of the abducted girls.

“We are more disturbed about the action of the past government which was globally condemned.”

He said it was saddening that the parents of the girls were going through the ordeal.

“I empathize with their (Chibok girls) parents and understand how they feel.”
