US Secretary of State, John Kerry has broken his leg in a bicycle crash in France two days after attending Muhammadu Buhari's inauguration in Nigeria, on Friday, May 29, 2015.
The injury is near the site of a previous hip surgery,which he sustained in an earlier edition of the same circling event.
According to CNN, a spokesperson, John Kirby said the 71-year old is in a stable condition in hospital in nearby Geneva, Switzerland and he's expected to make a full recovery after breaking his right femur and is in good spirits.
The accident took place in Scionzier, France, some 40km (25 miles) south-east of the Swiss border before he was then flown by helicopter to a hospital in Geneva.
Kerry, who was in Switzerland for talks on Iran's nuclear programme, was due in Madrid on Monday to sign a defence deal and in Paris on Tuesday for talks on combating Islamic State militants but will now fly to Boston in the US for treatment.John Kerry will have to cut short his diplomatic visits to Spain and Paris as he returns to Boston for treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital with his doctor who did the prior surgery, the spokesman said in a statement.
