Obiora Obiwon Honoured With Multiple Award As He Revs Up 2015 Career Year...

 Urban Gospel Recording Artiste and Music Minister Obiora Obiwon was honoured with two awards last weekend – 'Album of the Year' and 'Collaboration of the Year' – at the maiden edition of Applause Magazine Achievers Awards. 




The awards presented at a ceremony on Saturday March 21, 2015 at the 
Sheraton Hotels Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria were in recognition of Obiora Obiwon's album 'Gold Water' and his HipHop influenced single 'Hail My King' which featured Frank Edwards, Eben and Kenny K'ore.






Reacting on Social Media, Obiwon simultaneously alluded to recent musical recognitions and hinted at his 2015 plans as he said, "[I am] Surprised again to be honoured twice… [I am] Now looking excitedly at the rest of this Anniversary Year (2005 – 2015) and projects… Glory to God alone… " It may be recalled that Obiwon won four gospel music awards in one night (December 2014) and another one earlier in the same year for this same body of work.



Applause Magazine Achievers Awards is the collaborative platform of Salvation Crusaders Media, creators of the 'Minstrels TV Show' on Dove Television by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and The National Drama Unit of the RCCG. The award categories cut across several Christian/Gospel accomplishments and also include: Artiste of the Year (Musical), Actor of the Year (Movies), Movie of the Year, Song of the Year, New Artiste of the Year, Best Male and Best Female Vocalist, among others. An honorary award for "Character and Integrity Personality of the Year" was also presented to internationally renowned preacher, Pastor E. A. Adeboye of the RCCG days before the event.



ABOUT OBIORA OBIWON
Urban Gospel Recording Artiste and Music Minister Obiora Obiwon displayed a high affinity for music right from early childhood on the streets of 'Coal City' Enugu, Nigeria. After initial stints with a pioneering Nigerian HipHop group Thorobreds, Obiwon in 2005 debuted as a solo R'n'B/Soul Artiste.

 In 2007 Obiwon claimed major Nigerian music industry awards and recognition, after the release of his debut album the previous year. 

In 2008 Obiwon revealed he had undergone a deep spiritual experience and subsequently switched musical focus to the Christian/Gospel genre. Since then he has continually impacted the Nigerian music industry with his sound, style, ministry, classic hits and songs that stretch beyond the borders of his focal genre and location.
