Lagos State Bans Smoking In Public Places

The ban on public smoking in Lagos has been effected.... Yes, yesterday, 17th August 2014, and the Lagos State Police Command is in full force to ensure the ban is enforced and all obey the law.

The Police command in collaboration with British America Tobacco, organised a one-day sensitization programme for senior police officers across the state, geared toward understanding the nature of the law being enforced.

Need I remind us the penalties for smoking in public:

The penalties for first offenders include N10,000 fine and one to three months imprisonment. Repeat offenders may be fined up to N50,000 or get up to six months imprisonment.
