The 20-year-old "Wrecking Ball" singer split from Liam earlier this year amid pulling a string of erratic antics including twerking on stage semi-naked, raunchy photoshoots and naked music videos. It was claimed her wayward ways put a huge strain on their romance and Liam was fed up of the publicity she was garnering.
But after nearly two months apart, Miley has realised what she has lost and attempted to patch things up with her ex love by apologising in a long letter. She had originally planned on penning a love song to show Liam how sorry she is but decided to keep things private instead.
'She thought about writing some songs, but then decided why not write a letter to Liam to tell him exactly how she feels. Miley admitted to Liam she has pushed him away and said sorry for acting so mad,' a source told The Sun.
The source added: 'Miley says in her letter she still loves Liam deeply and has asked him to meet up. It could be for closure or it could be to start again, but she just wants to see him and talk things through.'
She hasn't exactly given Liam the impression she's been pining after him as she has since been linked to Rolling Stone magazine photographer Theo Wenner and more recently Paris Hilton's ex Benji Madden.
