Months after a Bristow Helicopter crash landed into the lagoon at the Oworonshoki area of Lagos, killing 12 persons on board, another helicopter from the same company with the registration No 5NBJQ flying from Port Harcourt to Lagos has also crashed.
While the exact location of the crash is yet to be ascertained, it was gathered that a total of thirteen passengers were on board and luckily, no life was lost.
The ill-fated helicopter was reportedly going for an offshore operation to drop engineers at the rig when the helicopter developed a fault.
According to Bristow, what happened was a prepared ditching (which means that the pilot noticed fault and decided to crash land).
South-west spokesperson for National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, has also confirmed the incidence saying: “An Helicopter has crashed into the sea. Emergency rescuers at work. For now there is no casualty. The Operation is ongoing. Further update soon.”
