NYSC To Reopen Camps In Adamawa, Borno And Yobe Soon – DG

NYSC-MEMBERS

Speaking to reporters in Katsina on Thursday, the Director-General of NYSC, Brig. General Johnson Olawumi, said the decision followed the successes recorded in the fight against insurgency in the north eastern part of the country.

The Director-General of NYSC, made this known during the opening ceremony of the 2016 Batch ‘A’ Pre-orientation workshop in Katsina, with theme: “Effective leadership and synergy in camp administration: Essential tool for a successful orientation course.”

‘’Since the insurgency has been reduced drastically, we are resuming orientation in Gombe state beginning with this batch ‘A’ of 2016.

‘’Adamawa state will resume with the next batch, while Borno and Yobe orientation camps will be re-opened before the end of the year,’’ he said.

The DG explained that the states had some of the best facilities for orientation in the country, but had to be abandoned because of the ongoing war.

Corps members were urged to carry out their duties at their places of primary assignment diligently.

The DG pleaded with the Federal and state governments to ensure prompt payment of allowances to corps members to boost their morale for effective service delivery.

Meanwhile, the NYSC has expressed concern over the lack of preparedness of some states for orientation camps, saying about 26 states are currently owing corps members.
