Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo will fight it out for the UEFA Best Player in Europe award with Barcelona duo Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. Ronaldo won the trophy last year and is on course for another one again after scoring an incredible 61 goals last season with the UEFA Supercup and the Club World Cup to show for his efforts. Messi and Suarez on the other hand combined effectively with Brazilian Neymar to claim the treble for Barcelona.
The three players finished ahead of Barcelona's Neymar, Juventus' Gianluigi Buffon and Chelsea's Eden Hazard.
The Uefa Best Player in Europe prize is voted for by journalists from all 54 of Uefa's member associations. Each journalist provides a five-man shortlist who they believe should win the award, with each of those players receiving a points tally based on the ranking and number of votes they receive.
