Manchester United started the season with a hard-fought victory over Tottenham as a Kyle Walker own-goal gifted the Red Devils their first victory of the season.
Tottenham started the game brightly and Eriksen could have given them the lead but they fell to an unfortunate own-goal from right-back Walker who was under pressure from Wayne Rooney which proved decisive as the game ended 1- in favour of Louis van Gaal’s men.
Manchester United endured a nervy finish and held on till the final whistle was blown. Memphis Depay made his debut alongside other new signings such as Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matteo Darmian. Tottenham, on the other hand, started up front with last season’s PFA Young Player of the Year, Harry Kane.
