When someone drops, another steps up to take his spot. Wayne Rooney says he is ready to play upfront for the Red Devils.
The 29-year-old scored only 12 goals last season for United, but was often utilized in a more deeper role by manager, Louis van Gaal.
With the exit of Van Persie and Falcao, United is without a natural forward and it seems like LVG is not a fan of Chicharito, instead Rooney will be the point man and he's looking forward to the role.
"The main striker is a position I think I can score goals from," said Rooney.
"I'm ready to take that mantle on and try to be the one to score the goals for us.
"I have no personal targets. I am working on getting fit and ready for the start of the season. I have never been one to set personal targets. I just want to help the team."
