Top 5 Tips to Babyproof your Hotel Room

Babies do not have a mind of their own. They heavily rely on their parents to keep them safe and healthy. Whenever couples travel or go on vacation to their favourite destinations with their children, it is key to make comprehensive plans and preparations so as not to deny themselves a fantastic vacation. One of such preparations should include prepping your hotel room for your baby. How do you babyproof a hotel room? Jovago.com, Africa’s No 1 hotel booking portal shares some tips on how to achieve this.
cute_african_american_mother_and_her_baby_sleeping
Call your hotel
Even though most hotels do not have special rooms for babies, you can call your hotel to find out if they can make arrangements for you and your child. If they agree, this may come at an additional cost but at least, you will not need to worry about baby proofing your hotel room yourself.
Move furniture away from the windows
You cannot always have eyes on your baby. But to prevent something sinister from happening, you should move furniture away from the windows. This will prevent your baby from crawling indiscriminately. If you do not want to move the furniture, you can securely lock windows and doors.
df1a454c7d29a282c9cd002f54b6af6a
Cover unused electrical outlets
A duct tape should be part of the items you pack if you are traveling with your baby. It will really come handy in baby proofing your room. As a safety measure, use the duct tape to cover all unused electrical outlets as well as other openings you think can cause injury to a young baby.
Don’t forget your mosquito net
Mosquito nets are designed to shield your baby from mosquitoes and many hotels cannot guarantee a mosquito free room. They may fumigate it intermittently but to be on the safe side, it is better to set up your own mosquito net in your room.
Move items away from your baby’s reach
Watch out for items like mouthwash, shampoo, suitcase, cosmetics, and medications among others which should be kept far away from the reach of your baby to prevent cases of unmonitored ingestion.

We never invited or arrested Tee Billz- NDLEA

Contrary to reports making the rounds that the former manager and husband of Tiwa Savage, Tee Billz was invited and arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the agency has squashed the reports, saying there was no substance in the report.

According to Vanguard, The spokesperson for the agency, Michelle Ofoyeju told Potpourri that it is not the business of the agency to arrest drug users. “ There is no substance in the story that NDLEA invited or arrested Tee Billz. The agency cannot be dragged into their marital crisis. We do not arrest drug abusers, what we do is to recommend them for counselling and rehabilitation. The drug user is also a victim of drug trafficking” she said.

However, this does not mean he didn't take drug test, but it has nothing to do with the NDLEA

Mobile Commerce Driving Revenue Growth in the Hotel Industry

Mobile bookings accounted for an impressive average of 49% globally, while apps seem to be a big hit with the convenience-driven market.

Mobile accounts for most of the overall growth in travel bookings since 2014, this is according to Criteo, a leading market research firm. The worldwide research, carried between Q2 2014 and Q2 2015 indicates an increase from 12% to 23% of bookings made via mobile devices.

Although the report does not delve on absolute drivers, the rise of m-commerce, development and adoption of apps in the online hotel booking sector and related services (such as car rentals and flight bookings) showed a remarkable growth at 49% from a previously recorded 12% in 2014. A further look at consumer trends reveals that smartphones account for a remarkable 47% of same-day hotel bookings, while tablets take up 11 percent of the same.

In an interesting twist, short-stay customers seem to be satisfied with doing their pre-journey research on mobile, while longer-stay guests opt to do their prep up research on desktops.
The above findings are collaborated by a study by Jovago.com, an African focused online hotel booking company which recorded an impressive growth on mobile bookings; from 10% in Q1 2014 to an average of over 60% in Q2 -2016.

This growth can be rightfully credited to availability of complete and more accessible platforms especially in terms of apps; which according to the research by Criteo are generating about 49% of all mobile bookings globally, up from just 12% a year ago. This definitely translates to a need for providers to invest more in in-app advertising and proper tracking in order to meet their market base and target customers in their most ‘comfortable’ zone.

Globally, mobile users appeared to prefer certain devices for certain bookings; tablets were seen to generate more bookings for the air packages category as compared to smartphones, while the vice versa happened with hotels. Also, the number of smartphone bookings were observed to significantly rise over weekends, prompting a need for providers to push last minute offers towards smartphone users as opposed to other mobile devices. Japan, among major markets, however takes exception to this finding, with its average booking values equal across all devices.

Commenting on the findings, Estelle Verdier, Managing Director for Jovago East and Southern Africa observed “an interesting trend in the way the digital-age customer wants to be served; customers are more likely to choose convenience over other factors, with a major fraction drawn to platforms that offer a complete buying process.” This she further explained, goes beyond the ability to view and review the product under one click, to various point of sale components such as price comparison, room for customization, mobile payment options, friendly interface and available and prompt online response by customer service.

According to New YYork’s leading online market research company, eMarketer, inexpensive smartphones are opening new opportunities for marketing and commerce in emerging markets where customers had no previous access to internet. Further data indicates a steady growth in the smartphone ownership, with numbers predicted to surpass the 2 billion mark by the end of 2016.
Statistics by International Telecommunications Union (ITU) project the proportion of households with Internet access to reach 56% by 2020, thereby exceeding the Connect 2020 target of 55% globally.

"I am tired of Jenifa's diary"- Funke Akindele

Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, has revealed that she is tired of her comedy series “Jenifa’s Diary”, but does not see it coming to an end soon.

In an interview with Vanguard Newspaper, she mentioned that the request of fans have spurred her into more production.

In her words, “We have actually filmed the fifth season but we are airing the fourth right now and we would soon begin shooting the sixth season.” “I must confess that I am tired because it is not easy writing, playing the lead character, assisting the director and also supervising the whole project.”
The actress spoke of her challenges coming up with contents for Jenifa’s Diary, which has gained a lot of attention among film lovers.

It was coined off “Jenifa”, a Yoruba movie that focused on a character who made wrong choices and was wrongly influenced by her school peers.

“It is not easy writing a comedy script but each time I want to put it to rest, people tell me that the last season was lovely and they keep asking what would be happening in seasons to come.” “They still want to see more because everyone loves Jenifa. I believe that Jenifa is a brand that has come to stay because we use her as a vessel to pass messages across to young people.” “I use the character to highlight some problems the youths face and also proffer solutions to these problems. I don’t see Jenifa’s Dairy coming to an end.” she concluded.

AY Comedian Reveals Why He Spent 9 Years In University

Well, for those who have been wondering why popular and controversial Nigerian comedian, AY Makun spent 9 whole years in the university, instead of the usual 4 years, the funny man has come out to spill it all.
The proud father of one in a long but inspirational note, told his fans and followers on Instagram that he had to do what he had to do to help his younger siblings after their father died while they were much younger.

“In December 1999 when my dad passed, it was difficult to take over his position as the first son. It became even more difficult when my mum decided to join him in no time.
Embracing the responsibilities of taking care of my four sisters and two baby brothers wasn’t the best message to preach to a waiting landlord whose rent must be paid in due time. The combination of being a big brother and father came with a price that kept me in Delta State University for 9 years as a student,’ he wrote.
Ay added that humility and strict Christian upbringing, brought him and his younger ones this far in life.
“Apart from the non-negotiable Christian upbringing from my parents, my dad always drilled me, and made me tough. He taught me how to be a strong independent Young-man. How to carry my siblings along as a leader of purpose. Though it wasn’t an easy journey for me or any of my younger ones, as we all struggled together. But hope was like the sun, which casts the shadows of our burden behind us.
I never stopped dreaming that one day our story would change and take each and every one of us towards the direction of success. Apart from thanking God for all He has done for me as successful comedian, this is just my way of also saying “I AM PROUD” of my baby brothers @lanremakun of Lanre Makun Events and @yomicasual (the Fashion Designer) for embracing and indulging the paths that is beginning to position them as individual brands in their respective endeavours.
Above all, you guys must bear in mind that the only way to continue the journey to success, is to remain focused.
Humility is the true key to succeed in life. Eradicate every form of arrogance and self-indulging trap that will halt your blessings from God.  See you at the top.

My name is not Ben Bruce, but I just want to share my thoughts. Lol #nobodyweynofittomakeam.”

David Cameron Calls Nigeria & Afghanistan ‘Fantastically Corrupt’

1
David Cameron has described Nigeria and Afghanistan as “fantastically corrupt” in a conversation with the Queen.

The PM was talking about the forthcoming anti-corruption summit when he made the comments.

It was not clear whether he knew the comments were being recorded.

“We’ve got some leaders of some fantastically corrupt countries coming to Britain… Nigeria and Afghanistan, possibly the two most corrupt countries in the world,” Mr Cameron said.
Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby intervened to say: “But this particular president is not corrupt… he’s trying very hard,” before Speaker John Bercow said: “They are coming at their own expense, one assumes?”

The conversation took place at Buckingham Palace at an event to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Afghanistan was ranked at 167, ahead of only Somalia and North Korea, in Transparency International’s 2015 corruption perception index. Nigeria was at 136.

“We will create 210,000 jobs between now and 2018” – Dangote Group

Aliko Dangote - Bloomberg Billionaires Index - January 2014 - BellaNaijaThe Chairman of Dangote Group of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote on Tuesday said that his organisation would create 210,000 jobs for unemployed Nigerians between now and 2018. He said that 80 percent of the jobs would be in the agricultural sector.
Dangote said this in Katsina in a goodwill message at the opening of Katsina Economic and Investment Summit themed “Unlocking Investment Potentials for Sustainable Development”.
“We will create 210,000 jobs between now and 2018 with 80 percent coming from the agricultural sector. So, we should pay attention to the agricultural sector for investment opportunities, particularly when the crude oil is now becoming unreliable,” he said.
He also said that agriculture is a lifetime opportunity for Nigerian, adding that Brazil, which had same peculiarities with Nigeria, had $350 billion in its foreign reserves, with 80 percent of the fund attributed agriculture.
I think it’s a lifetime opportunity which God has given to us by repositioning things while oil has gone down. It is not a curse, it is for us to diversify the economy. We have been relying on oil and I think oil very unreliable.
When you look at it, despite the downturn of various economic activities in the whole world, the only things that have actually not gone down are agricultural products. Rice, wheat, sugar have not gone down in price, so we should make sure that we use this opportunity which God has given us – arable land.
Both us and Brazil, we have the same quality of land and Brazil today are number one in sugar, soybean, poultry and in a lot of things. So I think we should copy that.
Dangote also said that he would establish the largest single refinery in the country with the capacity to produce 650,000 barrels per day and two sub-sea pipelines of 550 kilometers in Delta, Ogun and Lagos.
He said that he would assist government to reduce pipeline vandalism as well as provide 12,000MW of power.
He called for the creation of enabling environment for investors by identifying areas with comparative advantages.
“You don’t need to call for investors, just create enabling environment for the local ones, you will see the foreign ones gate crashing,” he said.

'I don't hate you' - Tompolo says in an open letter to Pres. Buhari

Ex militant leader Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo has written an open letter to President Buhari, saying that he does not hate Buhari. In the letter, Tompolo said that his support for ex president Goodluck Jonathan during the last election was borne out of the fact that Jonathan was his own person. Read full letter after the cut...

His Excellency,
President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR,
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Aso Rock Presidential Villa,
Abuja.
Dear Mr President,
‎I once again, deem it pertinent to write Your Excellency since your assumption of office in May 2015. Mr President will recall that at my meeting with you sometimes last year, I gave my commitment and pledge to ensure sustainable peace and development in the oil rich Niger Delta region and Nigeria in general.
At the meeting which I interpreted to be an ample opportunity and a template for peaceful co existence in the country‎, I made it known to Your Excellency that my support for your government as well as my commitment to a peaceful and secure Niger Delta region is paramount. But I remember also that I gave a humble advice on the need for Mr President to be weary of political cum crisis merchants, particularly those who are members of your own party, the APC. That advice arose out of the fear that most people who are members of your party, especially from the Niger Delta region, who are very known to me, take solace in evolving and concocting crisis to leverage upon.
I left the meeting fulfilled for three reasons. It was not because I had met with a new man in charge but because I ‎had an opportunity to air my views on the way forward. I had also successfully dispelled an unfounded perception that I do not want to see President you succeed having defeated my fellow Ijaw kinsman and close confidant. Thirdly, I did not use the opportunity of that auspicious meeting to arrogate to myself, as having the solutions to all the challenges facing the Niger Delta region.
This is worth emphasizing in the sense that aside me , there are several other dissatisfied, disenchanted, oppressed and agitated younger elements who still habour misdirected sentiments that I led a handful of ex agitators to surrender arms and embrace the Presidential Amnesty Programme in 2009, under late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, without immediately solving the myriad of problems facing our people. Little did such younger elements appreciate the fact that there can only be a process leading to the eventual succor ‎ for our people.
‎Nonetheless, I displayed an uncommon courage to ensure the sustenance of peace and relative security within the limits of my capacity and ability. Most Nigerians, if not all, are aware of the role I played in safeguarding and protecting crude oil and gas facilities during the last administration. I am sure even Mr President is aware of this development. As a patriotic Nigerian, I have never hidden my desire to do what is just in this regard even to the extent, that I have incurred the wrath of illegal bunkers and vandals.
Attempts To Demonize Me‎ And Ethnicise Niger Delta Issues
Mr President Sir, even at the risk of being repetitive, kindly permit me to recall the various efforts I have made to exonerate myself from the perfidious moves by some elements within and outside the Niger Delta region to always implicate me on any flimsy opportunity.
To such persons, calling me, the man behind every bad thing has remained the only avenue and pedestal to get political patronages. Although so many instances abound, the recent spirited move to link me with the nascent Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), a group that has claimed responsibility for the various breaches on oil pipeline installations in the Niger Delta region.
To some around you, the only means of getting Your Excellency’s attention is to wickedly attribute the activities of the said group to me simply because ‎I have a running battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC). This is the height of desperation and hypocrisy on the part of such people.
For one, I have chosen to pursue my case with the EFCC to a logical conclusion because I am yet to be convinced that the purported case instituted against me does not have ethnic colouration masterminded by my traducers. Since the case is before a competent court of jurisdiction, I will refrain from making further comments on this.
However, ‎it will be in the interest of this great nation if Mr President takes a painstaking study of certain political actors around him, most especially those from the Niger Delta region. I bear no grudge against any of such, but I am convinced beyond any doubt that they have taken solace in perpetual misdirection and mischief as far as my person is concerned.
I make bold to say that there are several APC elements within and around your government who see anything Ijaw as criminal and anti-Buhari. Unpretentiously too, certain non-Ijaw ethnic merchants cum bigots have expressedly displayed open hatred for Ijaws in the Niger Delta region. Such persons have almost succeeded in warping a governmental mindset against Ijaws, whether in or outside your government. Please Mr President, this is a very dangerous dimension that is avoidable by your government.
Just as your people supported you as of right, throughout the presidential campaigns, ‎I do not think it was criminal for me to openly support one of my own, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the presidency in 2015. I did so out of conviction not because I hate you or because you are a northerner. Afterall, most of my personal friends and acquaintances are from the north. To cap it all, the memories of my robust relationship with your Katsina brother, the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua are still painfully fresh and reminiscent of brotherliness.
In this regard, it is only appropriate to judge people not by what is reeled out to the corridor of powers by their traducers but by their deeds and activities. I do not think I have done anything to warrant this needless mental onslaught that has been visited on me since Your Excellency’s assumption of power.
Finally, I am compelled to say that these ethno-political merchants are merely laying the foundation for an unavoidable crisis. They will be happy to see a ravaged Gbaramatu Kingdom and by extension, Ijawland under the pretext of looking for me. This is a very dangerous template such persons are laying and it is only good for Mr President to deploy the inner mind to stratify this unwholesome gimmick.
Once again, I thank Mr President for having the time to peruse this letter.
Thanks and as usual, accept the assurances of my highest compliments.
SIGNED
HIGH CHIEF GOVERNMENT EKPEMUPOLO (TOMPOLO)
The Ibe-ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation

Tiwa Savage’s Multi-millionaira mansion in Lekki Lagos locked up

According to The Sun,  one of them walked towards the team and popped the question:“Please who do you want to see?”
He was told that the team was going see a resident of the estate, but he demanded that the person should be called on the phone before the team would be granted entry. When the many pleas of the team fell on deaf ears, The Sun crew then disclosed its mission: to see Tiwa Savage. And that instantly made him very unfriendly, and asked to know whether there was an appointment with her.
“Oga, you can’t see anyone in this estate except you call the person on phone and he or she must tell us to allow you in. Every occupant has their instruction and Tiwa Savage has given us instruction not to let anybody that comes to look for her into the estate without her permission,” the gatekeeper said with a tone of finality.
After the encounter with the gatekeeper, The Sun crew struck up a conversation with a middle-aged man seen some meters away from the gate, wanting to ascertain whether the songstress actually lives in the estate. He said:
“I am allowed to enter this estate because I work there. Tiwa Savage stays here but I haven’t seen her since the information about her marriage crisis went viral on the internet. I got to know about it like every other person.
“I saw her with her husband in December last year inside a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUV. Her husband was driving the vehicle out of the estate. Sometimes when I see her, I will wave at her and she would wave back. Apart from that, I don’t have a personal relationship with her.”
The worker explained that some other artistes also live in the estate: “Tiwa Savage is not the only artiste staying in this estate. We have Iyanya, Timaya, MI, AY (comedian) and others living here. Even TuFace Idibia has a house here and his wife, Annie Macaulay comes here regularly.
“Some occupants of the estate bought land and built duplexes on it while others bought semi-detached duplex from the company that manages the estate.”
