Mr. Ganiyu Johnson, state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, had declared what he tagged “zero tolerance for potholes” and strict enforcement of traffic laws within Lagos.
Yesterday, Lagos State Government, LASG, made it known, that strict enforcement of traffic laws had begun in the state, hence declaring war on highway robbers who seize traffic situations to rob defenseless citizens.
Mr. Ganiyu Johnson, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, also declared what he tagged “zero tolerance for potholes” within Lagos, and setting up a task force to run the patching of bad spot.
Mr. Ganiyu Johnson announces the constitution of 40 gangs to run the maintenance and patching of roads with a mandate to immensely improve road users’ experience within the state.
He uncovers the recent development at a meeting with the management staff of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure and its sister agencies,
He also noted, all the engineers in the ministry would participate in the exercise, which targets all parts of the state.
Lagos State government, LASG, also made a donation of N50 million each to Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states, which were the worst hit by the Boko Haram sect, while Governor Akinwunmi Ambode showed total disapproval of the terrorism in the North-East.
The Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, made the donation at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, while speaking at a press conference he addressed in presence of his colleagues from Adamawa, Senator Bindo Jibrilla; Borno, Alhaji Kashim Shettima; Sokoto, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal; Abia, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu; and Yobe, Alhaji Ibrahim Geidam.
The Governor expresses sympathy with the governments and families of the affected ones who had been displaced from their homes or lost their loved ones due to the activities of terrorists.
“You are not alone in this, as the prayer of every Nigerian is for the insurgency to end so as to enable them return to their normal lives”, the Governor said.
