A teacher was arrested, charged and convicted of sexual assault after forcing his students to eat cookies, which were contaminated with his sperm, prosecutors in California said.
Now, the Los Angeles School District has agreed to pay victims $140 million.
63-year-old Mark Berndt was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison.
According to the police investigation, Berndt gave the contaminated cookies to third grade students, and took pictures of them as they were eating.
Berndt also blindfolded students and fed them his bodily fluids. Berndt was not dismissed from school after the complaints. He was allowed to retire and is receiving his pension.
Some of his students are suicidal. The $140 million will be distributed to the children who were abused.
Children who are suffering from emotional issues will receive a greater amount than those children who didn't suffer long term damage.
