Ibrahimovic Named Ligue 1 Player Of The Year

The Sweden international was named the best player in France's top flight, with Marco Verratti and Salvatore Sirigu winning individual awards, too

Paris Saint-Germain attacker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been named Ligue 1 Player of the Year following his impressive performances in 2013-14, pipping team-mates Thiago Silva and Thiago Motta as well as Monaco's James Rodriguez to the award.

The Sweden international netted 25 goals in 32 league appearances to help PSG to their second consecutive league title and is determined to help the reigning champions to more silverware in the years to come.

"For the second year in a row, it is a great honour. I want to thank all the players, the coach, the staff and the supporters," Ibrahimovic told gathered reporters.

"I think this has been my best season. The team have had a magnificent season.

"In the years to come I hope to win the league again, as well as the two cups, the Champions League and more individual trophies."

Meanwhile, PSG shot stopper Salvatore Sirigu was voted Goalkeeper of the Year ahead of Lille's Vincent Enyeama, while Marco Verratti scooped up the Young Player of the Year trophy and Lille boss Rene Girard won Coach of the Year.
