The Spice Girl, 39, has gone to extreme lengths to keep the year-long renovations on track – by renting another, almost identical, £45million house for her and David, 38, just 90ft away, on the very same street, and directly opposite, their recently purchased pad.
Victoria and David want to be very hands-on with their new home that they don't mind the extravagant rental. This means while extensive work is carried out on the new mansion, the couple can keep a check on what's happening. Pity the poor builders.
The Beckhams, I can reveal, have moved in to their temporary West London palace.
"It makes sense to live on the same street and means they can both pop over the road to check on the progress, and keep the builders on their toes."
While Victoria's dad, Tony, and his team are responsible for the heavy duty renovations, her good pal and top interior designer Kelly Hoppen has been charged with making the luxurious pad look pretty
A source adds: "While Victoria has been in New York, David has been spending a lot of time at the bought mansion, helping Tony and his team lug furniture backwards and forwards.
"The children are excited to see things slowly taking shape too, so the new house really is turning in to a big family project."
The Beckhams – who have three sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz and a daughter, Harper – exchanged on the sprawling seven-bed mansion last month but will not move in until just before Christmas this year.
