Americans Want Bieber Deported

Thousands of US citizens have signed a petition calling for Justin Bieber to be deported from the country following his arrest.

The online petition, on the White House's 'We The People' page, has already gained more than 15,000 signatures in less than 48 hours.

"We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture. We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked.

"He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nation's youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society."

The 19-year-old was charged with driving under the influence, driving with an expired licence and resisting arrest without violence. He later admitted smoking marijuana, drinking and taking a prescription medication, police say.

Despite all his legal troubles, the charges against Bieber are unlikely to put him at risk of being deported or denied entry into the US.

According to US immigration law, authorities generally do not revoke an individual's visa unless the person has been convicted of a violent crime or has been sentenced to more than one year imprisonment.
