A 32 Year Old Nigerian Woman Excretes Hard Drugs Inside Aircraft

Chizoba Anya, a Nigerian lady, has excreted wraps of substance that tested positive for methamphetamine on-board a Qatar Airline Flight from Malaysia to Nigeria, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said on Monday.

NDLEA said the 32-year old suspect was said to have excited suspicion following her frequent visits to the toilet.

"On arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, three wraps of methamphetamine were found in her possession," said Mitchell Ofoyeju, NDLEA spokesperson.NDLEA commander at the Lagos Airport, Mr. Hamza Umar, said that the suspect while under observation excreted two additional wraps.

"The suspect was found with three wraps which she excreted in the aircraft. While she was under observation at the Lagos airport, she excreted two additional wraps of drugs. The five wraps which tested positive for methamphetamine weighed 80 grammes," Umar said.

Preliminary investigation also revealed that the suspect left Ghana where she ingested the drugs to Malaysia.

"In Malaysia, she was denied entry and made to board another flight back to Nigeria. She started excreting the drugs at the airport in Malaysia," NDLEA said.

The agency quoted the suspect as saying in her statement that she was offered half a million naira to smuggle the drugs to Malaysia.

"I was promised the sum of half a million naira but my problem started when I had immigration problem in Malaysia. I was denied entry and made to return to Nigeria after two days. While in the aircraft, I excreted three wraps and two other wraps in the NDLEA office," Vivian stated.

Vivian, who hails from Onitsha, said that she just completed her Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration at the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State.

Group Moves To Rename 'Nollywood' As 'Naiwood'

Just in case you haven't heard, a group of members of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), led by Yomi Fabiyi, is moving to change the name for Nigeria's movie industry from Nollywood to 'Naiwood'.

Cos, according to them :
The name Nollywood is stained with Tribalism. Nollywood @ 20 was organized and  celebrated with the support of just 1 association out of the many in the movie industry.

Speaking with entertainment reporters, Yomi said:
At the inception of the name Nollywood, we all embraced it with open arms without even probing the source. As time went by, few flashes of some ill motives surfaced. See! If this Nollywood thing continues or let me say the agenda behind it, Nigeria may begin to spilt from there. Too many tribalism. Journalists that have been reporting or writing about movies in Nigeria some 30yrs and above will wonder what Nollywood stands for and why 20 years. We inherited film making, we had legendary filmmakers in Nigeria before then.
In an unjust society where inequality, tribalism, sentiment is the order of the day, SILENCE IS A SIN. We wish to set the record straight, film making started in Nigeria 70 years ago.
Nollywood name is not a unifying factor. We can't fold our arms and watch them sweep under the carpet the effort of our veterans with an acronym (Nollywood).

That acronym NOLLYWOOD is not acceptable by us, if it represents 20 years. NAIJA (Nigeria) is a film, football and oil country. Nigerian movie industry - NAIWOOD, is the right name for the right naija film history. The change is already in the pipeline and no matter how long it takes, the genuine vanguards will not stop. It's not a fight against an individual or group of people. We are fighting against injustice to history and heritage.

We the Progressives in ANTP of the movie industry, irrespective of tribe and religion, wish to be referred with that acronym henceforth, and we mean every word of it.

A Spinster Writes Her Future Husband [MUST READ]

Dear readers, I found this interesting letter online and decided to share it with you and let us have your contributions. It's unedited. Enjoy

Hello guys, compliments of the season to everyone, hope everyone is doing great. I'm actually feeling led to post here, though I don't post much at all,but for some reason,I woke up this morning and was feeling abit incomplete, hence coming here to seek some advice on how to live through it all. I understand that I would get encouraging comments as well as immature and ridiculous comments, but all in all,its the grace of God that has kept us all sane and alive till date.

I never thought I'd be the lady staying calm and waiting almost endlessly for the one I would spend the rest of my life with.

the one who would one day become my husband and the father of my children.my best friend and love.

I'm generally not the woman you would see often on d streets as I am mostly indoors,I was brought up to be around home, and as such days I have tried going out on my own hasn't been fruitful.

I end up spending a few minutes out, then head back home,

I also have limited friends because most of the ones I call friends are away in far cities and countries.

The few I have around are mostly all married and don't hang out much either.

I am a christian and have noticed that I have a thing for christian men who are filled with the word of God.

needless to say that I would eventually be gettin into ministry in my older years, and every prophetic word I have heard about my marriage has pointed to the fact that the man God has prepared for me would also most likely be in ministry and a huge God lover.

Now the thing is where on earth is this man?

I am tired of waiting and I don't want to make a mistake.I am in my late 20's slowly approachin 30 soon and would like to settle within the next one year. My family is puttin a lot of pressure on me and I am starting to crumble under the pressure of havin to remain sane while waiting for my own.

I have indeed met a lot of other men who I dare not settle with.eg party rockers, drinkers, womanizers and the rest.does it mean that all the good men are taken?

Asides waiting,I also want to feel loved, wanted and appreciated.I want him so much already.

I am a professional lady,I am yoruba,I am gentle, kind hearted and want to continue serving God.

what can I do to remain calm? how long more would I need to wait?

does it mean that there is no other Godly man out there?

Meet The Woman Who Got HIV While Seeking For A Child

Toyosi Ogunseye tells the stories of women who contracted HIV while desperately seeking to have children and the societal pressure that pushes them into the hands of quacks and pseudo-medical centres. I got HIV in the process of looking for a child," says Mrs. Titi Okunowo with a sad smile. "I got the child but it came with what I didn't bargain for — a virus I may live with for the rest of my life."

Globally, sexual transmission is responsible for 75 per cent of HIV infections. But Okunowo did not contract HIV through sex. It all started with a love story. When Okunowo met with the man that would become her husband, it was almost love at first sight. But her husband's family opposed their union. So, when they tried for a baby and there was none coming, Okunowo began to fear for the future of her marriage.

"I didn't want to lose my husband. I didn't want him to look outside for another woman who could bear him a child. I wanted to protect my marriage and I also feared my in-laws' wrath," she says. Okunowo is one of the 3.1 million Nigerians who have the Human Immunodeficiency Virus in their bloodstreams.

According to the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, 58  per cent of the members of this group are women but only 23 per cent of women in Nigeria have comprehensive knowledge of HIV transmission and prevention issues.

Driven by the desperation to have a child and save her home, Okunowo went looking for help at hospitals and trado-medical centres. She moved from doctors to herbalists, submitting her body to injections, incisions, transfusions and all manner of invasive procedures. In her desperation, she did not request any of the doctors or herbalists to sterilise the tools or use new ones.

She says, "I won't lie to you. I visited everyone and everywhere I could to get a child. Once I hear that someone somewhere can help me get pregnant, I would run there as far as my legs could carry me. Name the state, I have been there. And I am not talking about hospitals alone; I also visited herbalists in three different states.

"I went through all sorts of procedures, both medical and 'native' in my desperation. Some of the places where these procedures took place were not neat but I didn't care. Neatness and safety was the last thing on my mind. I did not ask if they sterilised their blades or not.  I just needed a child. I needed to keep my home."

"You Can’t Turn Any Section Of Our Roads Into Showrooms"- Fashola Tells Auto Dealers

The Governor was recently on his way to an event when he passed through the Mobolaji Bank Anthony way and was not pleased with what some car dealers have turned part of the road into. He has warned them and the rest of auto dealers in the state to stop using part of the roads as their showrooms. He also spoke about people hawking in traffic and how they have made traffic worse, stating that Lagos is a mega city and we should also remember that staying more in traffic is not healthy. His words;

"We build roads to let us get to our businesses; our places of work quickly and to make movement easier.

"But some residents covert the roads to places they trade and as long as we continue to trade on them, we defeat the purpose for which they were built.

"As long as we turn our roads to shopping malls where everybody buys in traffic, we all pay the price because you all know that such causes stress and hypertension.

"Now, I see those who sell cars on Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way and other areas have turned sections of the highways into showrooms.

"I am using this opportunity to tell them to get land where they can display and sell their cars. If we want to be great people, we don't turn our highways into car shops".

Fashola also added that there was a lot of serious health implications if motorists have to stay too long  on the road.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian Named Worst Neighbours Of 2013

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have been named as the worst neighbours of 2013 in a new survey.

The rapper and his TV personality wife had the dubious honour of taking first place in the poll by real estate website Zillow in their Celebrity Neighbour Survey. A quarter of Americans surveyed in the list named West and Kardashian as the least desirable neighbours of the year, putting them ahead of the cast of the show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

Zillow's Chief Marketing Officer Amy Bohutinsky said: "No one wants to live next door to a family who has cameras following them everywhere and seems to seek out as much attention as possible. However, with more than one-third of surveyed Americans preferring a non-celebrity neighbor, what remains clear is that many people don't want to live next to any celebrity, regardless of why they are famous."

16 per cent of people surveyed claimed that Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber would be the worst neighbours imaginable, with 4 per cent plumping for Lady Gaga instead. Comedian Jimmy Fallon was chosen as the most desirable neighbour, meanwhile, with 11 per cent of the vote.

Earlier this week (December 23), Kanye West promised not to say anything controversial for "six months". Speaking onstage in Toronto, he said: "Everything I'm saying that's not allowed, soak it in right now. This might be the last time y'all hear me talk shit for a long time. Might be another like six months. At least. You're just gonna have to run back the interviews and shit if you wanna hear some realness."

West also recently spoke about his plans for the follow-up to his recent album 'Yeezus'. The rapper, who said he wants to release the LP in the summer of 2014, said: "I think my next album is going to be eight songs," he said. "It's just reducing down the amount of information that you need. People say a design is the point where you can't take anything else away. ['Yeezus'] was very, very designed."

'Yeezus', which is West's sixth studio album, was released in June of this year and went on to debut at Number One on the Official UK Albums Chart.

Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus also named in least desirable neighbours list

There Is No Hell Fire; Adam and Eve Not Real – Pope Francis Reveals

One man who is out to open many old "secrets" in the Catholic church is Pope Francis. Some of the beliefs that are held in the church but contrary to the loving nature of God are now being set aside by the Pope who was recently name The Man of The Year by TIME Magazine.
In his latest revelations, Pope Francis said:

"Through humility, soul searching, and prayerful contemplation we have gained a new understanding of certain dogmas. The church no longer believes in a literal hell where people suffer. This doctrine is incompatible with the infinite love of God. God is not a judge but a friend and a lover of humanity. God seeks not to condemn but only to embrace. Like the fable of Adam and Eve, we see hell as a literary device. Hell is merely a metaphor for the isolated soul, which like all souls ultimately will be united in love with God."

In a shocking speech that is reverberating across the world, Pope Francis declared that:

"All religions are true, because they are true in the hearts of all those who believe in them. What other kind of truth is there? In the past, the church has been harsh on those it deemed morally wrong or sinful. Today, we no longer judge. Like a loving father, we never condemn our children. Our church is big enough for heterosexuals and homosexuals, for the pro-life and the pro-choice! For conservatives and liberals, even communists are welcome and have joined us. We all love and worship the same God."

In the last six months, Catholic cardinals, bishops and theologians have been deliberating in the Vatican City, in discussing the future of the church and redefining long-held Catholic doctrines and dogmas. The Third Vatican Council, is the largest and most important since the Second Vatican Council was concluded in 1962.
Pope Francis convened the new council to "finally finish the work of the Second Vatican Council."
The Third Vatican Council concluded with Pope Francis announcing that… Catholicism is now a "modern and reasonable religion, which has undergone evolutionary changes. The time has come to abandon all intolerance. We must recognize that religious truth evolves and changes. Truth is not absolute or set in stone. Even atheists acknowledge the divine. Through acts of love and charity the atheist acknowledges God as well, and redeems his own soul, becoming an active participant in the redemption of humanity."

One statement in the Pope's speech has sent traditionalists into a fit of confusion and hysteria…
"God is changing and evolving as we are, For God lives in us and in our hearts. When we spread love and kindness in the world, we touch our own divinity and recognize it. The Bible is a beautiful holy book, but like all great and ancient works, some passages are outdated. Some even call for intolerance or judgement. The time has come to see these verses as later interpolations, contrary to the message of love and truth, which otherwise radiates through scripture. In accordance with our new understanding, we will begin to ordain women as cardinals, bishops and priests. In the future, it is my hope that we will have a woman pope one day. Let no door be closed to women that is open to men!"

"I Didn't Marry My Wife Because Of Her Wealth' Aremu Afolayan Says

Actor and movie producer Aremu Afolayan has reacted to reports that he married his new wife because she's rich. Aremu got married quietly on Saturday December 7th in Abuja to a woman believed to be older than he is, but Aremu says he doesn't care what anyone thinks of him, his wife or their marriage. The actor said his wife is not as rich as people think and that contrary to reports, his wedding wasn't a secret and his famous older brother was at his wedding.

Aremu tells Saturday Punch:
"People will always say what they want to say. I am not perturbed in any way. I don't care. If I had married a top politician's daughter, I am sure you will not be talking to me. My wife's family is not rich let alone my wife. I got married to somebody I wanted to get married to and not because of her wealth. I don't know why people say all they say."
"I wonder how anybody would say my marriage was secret. Some people went ahead to say that my brother (Kunle) was not at the wedding but he was there. Anyway, I am not ready for them. When I am ready, I will let you know," he said.

Mr Ugly, William Masvinu says women are throwing themselves at his feet. But he is not interested.
Scooping the Mr Ugly title twice in a row is undisputed testament that the Harare man is indeed very ugly and deserves the accolade.
Masvinu who shares his mobile with his wife Alice Chabhanga who is almost always by his side, said he does not have time for 'girls'. "Zvevasikana handina dhiri nazvo, I have my own girl at home and one needs to be careful these days because there are diseases," said Masvinu. Masvinu is confident of his looks and is unfazed by people who stare at him in the streets. "My ugliness comes naturally to me and although I did a bit to prepare for the show, I let my looks do the rest. Now I am a celebrity, when people meet me in the street they shout Mr Ugly and I wave at them happily," he said.

Masvinu, who is a part time mechanic, revealed that he has also ventured into acting and features in a film titled Fuse Yatsva which has already been produced."These days I spend time selling my film on the streets of Harare and people like it," he said. Last year, the 39-year-old was quoted bemoaning the lack of corporate support for "celebrities" like him. He said as the reigning Mr Ugly Harare, he should be in the same league with superstars such as Oliver Mtukudzi. "Despite my celebrity status, my life hasn't changed and I still struggle to make ends meet," he said."The corporate world should support me as I am celebrity just like other musicians and top people," he said. But, he added, as a celebrity he now enjoys numerous free drinks and beer and often gets into shows without paying as people "respect" his celebrity status. It is just a matter of time before Masvinu proves how far he can go as a celebrity or whether he will make headlines for grabbing other people's wives.

I Don’t Mix Freely With People And I’m Very Much Single! Flavour Reveals

Ladies favourite, Flavour Nabania has revealed that he does almost everything at home. He parties right in his house, works in his house and of-course eats and drinks at home. He does not even go to clubs, the singer revealed. Here is what he told Vanguard in a new interview.

People will always talk and turn around stories. But I am still single because marriage is not my priority for now. I still want to hit the top before thinking about marriage. It's not yet time. I am still concentrating on my music. But the issue is that I try to stay away from trouble. For instance, I don't even go to clubs. Any time I want to do something, I do it in the comfort of my house. I party inside my house. I do my recording inside my house. When you start mingling and partying with everybody in different places that is where one or two things would start to emerge.

MUST READ: Open Letter To ‘The Headies Awards 2013′ Organizers

Dear Headies 2013 Organizers;

Let me start by saying I am not just disappointed in you but u have just proved to us that Nigeria is not getting better any time soon. You have been manipulated by a greedy and hopeless telecommunications company (MTN) because they sponsored your event and you forgot the ultimate rule that awards are meant to be impartial and should be decided by the general public especially when u told us to vote. You distributed the awards among four MTN ambassadors (Iyanya, Davido, Praiz, and KCee) and just oneGlo ambassador won (Waje). Is that not politics or is it coincidence? Now let us analyse.

The Headies 2013 was a flop, your stage was shaped like a models runway, the choreographers lacked ideas and didn't interpret the music, I have seen a better performance from Nigeria's Got Talent. What was the Gulder Ultimate Search theme song that was being played throughout the event?

Who on earth uses the Mavin slaves -Dr Shit
popularly called Dr Sid and Tiwa Gabbage knows as Tiwa Savage as anchors of an event? Oh I forgot, the awards lacked credibility and substance.

Why did majority of the winners come from backstage, instead of coming from the crowd like it should be? I watched Nickelodeon Kids choice awards this year and it is far better than the over hyped Headieswhich was not properly planned and hurriedly done #shame.

Can you explain to us how Olamide won Best Rap Album? Olamide has commercialised rap, we cannot tell if he is a rapper or a singer. As far as I am concerned, he is just an entertainer like D'Banj. So where does Vector, Phyno, Reminisce and Illbliss who represent real hip hop/rap stand? Don't forget that there is a big difference between commercial rap and real rap, all he sings about is remind us that he is from the street but to be sincere Terry G is more street than
Olamide and Terry G is not even a rapper #justsaying.

How can Harrysong win most MTN most downloaded caller tune song for RIP Mandela? when did Mandela die and do u want to compare that dead song with other club bangers in the same category? Simple, it is because Harrysong is a label mate to your MTN ambassadors (KCee). In my opinion Jawon, Waje, 2 Face, Clarence Peters, Blackmagic and Davido deserved their awards. How can Wizkid not win any award? Someone who has been the most consistent and sought after this year. I am sure Wizkiddeclined an interview from you that's why he didn't win, in fact Wizzy should be the artiste of the year. Why did D'Banj, Burnaboy, Wandecoal, PSquare, Flavour not win anything? oh I know why, it is because they are Glo ambassadors.

Now explain to me why Sean Tizzle won the next rated award and he was in the same category as Burna Boy who is obviously more relevant and talented. We all know Sean Tizzle has the same old boring style and we can always predict his next song. Phyno too deserved the next rated award and how on planet earth did D'Tunes win producer of the year? Someone who recycled 1 beat 5 times (Kukere, Your Waist, Mama Eh, Lenu by Spicy, Kilogbe). So where does ace producer Del'B that produced the national anthemLimpopo stand? You are all insane!!!!!!

Infact, Headies, MTN and PDP should merge and start a new political party for the upcoming election in 2015. It should be named MHDP(Mtn Headies Democratic Party). We all know exactly what happened,MTN agreed to sponsor your event and they gave you the list of who should win. Our votes did not count; do you think we are blind and foolish like yourself? Instead of your greedy
MTN sponsors to improve their network, reduce tariffs and contribute to the growth of the nation, they will be sending me SMS on how they gave free ipad and mp3 to those who sent an SMS to a code. They spend all their time looking for how to extort customers and scam us with their ridiculous offers (free airplane and a trip to the moon). I am sorry to say sir but if u continue this way your company will fold up and collapse because you are not an epitome of integrity. I am speaking on behalf of majority of Nigerians who know the truth and are not afraid to say it.

Those who feel this letter is nonsense should not forget to curse, insult and threaten me on @baddestdjtimmy. after my last two open letters, I have been insulted, chewed up, spit out, as being very jobless, hopeless and a broke laptop DJ.
You guys don't know how much I love the insults so it means I am doing a good job and it makes me stronger. So in conclusion, if u have the opportunity to host another award show, learn from your mistakes and let our votes count this time. Let those who deserve it win, is that too much to ask?

‘Beyoncé’ illegally Downloaded 240,000 Times In 10 Days

It has been revealed that Beyonce's new self-titled album 'Beyoncé' was illegally downloaded 240,000 times in the first 10 days since its release, resulting in $3.8 million of lost revenue for the singer.

The record, which was released on December 13, also clocked up just under a million legitimate sales in the same time period, reports Billboard, putting the surprise release at the top of the American Billboard chart for the two subsequent weeks.

The report also states that the former Destiny's Child singer's entire back catalogue has been shared more than two million times using BitTorrent downloading sites. As well as recent downloads of her eponymous new release, the album has also spurred downloads of the singer's older albums; on December 15, more than 11,000 downloads of previous Beyoncé albums were also downloaded, which accounts for more than five times the number accessed the day before the singer's newest release.

'Beyoncé' was released this month on iTunes with no run-up or publicity, marking a final surprise release in a year that has also seen similar promotion-less tactics from David Bowie and My Bloody Valentine.

Beyoncé, meanwhile, revealed after the album's unveiling that she was "really nervous" about the release. "I was terrified. I was so scared. I already envisioned like the worst things that could happen," Beyoncé revealed before moving on to discuss the more personal side to the album. "I'm very private and I'm very respectful, and I think it just took me no longer being someone's child — once I became a mother, I felt like I could tear those fourth walls and I just felt like it was time. I completely feel liberated."

[Must Read] Movies That Shaped Nollywood In 2013

The ending year has been a good one for the industry, marking the real beginning of Nollywood's quest to go global.

The big names in film production in Nigeria still dominated the scene, owing specifically to their strategic thinking, which availed the watching public works that were enthralling. Kunle Afolayan, set the ball rolling early in the year with his documentary, Ise dale Yoruba, which took him round the south west region interviewing traditional rulers and filming exotic spots. The essence of the work was to highlight the rich culture of the Yoruba and it did get a lot of commendations.

Following in the same footsteps of promoting African culture was Obi Emelonye, who released his new movie, Onye Ozi, The Messenger. Emelonye after making a mark with films like Mirror Boy and Last Flight to Abuja, decided to shoot 'Onye Ozi' to revitalise the dwindling interest in making movies in Igbo language amongst his kinsmen. The film, which has white and black cast was shot in England and has already sparked off the passion to make Igbo language movies in producers like Teco Benson, Dickson Iroegbu, Amayo Philips, Harris Chuma and Gab Onyi amongst others.

Onye Ozi, which has had only the theatrical release also served as the platform to rekindle the acting career of Comedian Okey Bakassi, who did the lead role.

Another producer whose work remained relevant is Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen. After the commercial success of his last film, Adesuwa, Imasuen went back to location for 'Invasion 1897', which is the story of the invasion of the Benin Kingdom which happened 200 years ago. The film location in Benin was an assemblage of about 1500 film professionals from three continents- Africa, Asia and Europe. The story marks the climax in the inordinate exploitation of Africa by the West.

This sinister quest began with slavery and later devolved to the famed scramble for Africa where the entire continent was divided among European World powers. The year also heralded a renewed vigour for comedy. From the Enugu angle of the industry, Amayo Uzor Philips kept churning out comics that utilised the acting prowess of actors like Nkem Owoh, John Okafor, Funke Akindele, Charles Inojie and Charles Awurum. The interesting thing is how he broke the work into a serial that stretched into several parts. This was what gave rise to films like Sherikoko and Osuofia's Wedding.

Events that marked the civil war also presented an entertaining spectacle for those who have followed the blossoming career of Chimamanda Adichie. Her views of the controversial Nigeria-Biafra war captured in, Half of a Yellow Sun adapted into a big budget film, featuring Hollywood stars, Chinwetel Ejiofor, who played Odenigbo and Thandie Newton, who played the role of Olanna. The film which was shot in Calabar, and also featured Onyeka Onwenu and Zack Orji but raised a little issue when the role assigned to Genevieve Nnaji was expunged from the film.

At the Toronto International Film Festival where the film was screened to the public, it sure got the applause it deserved, and has been seen by the film world as a gateway to the quest of Nollywood to gain global acceptability.

Ifeanyi Onyeabor, also started work on another film that has a unique theme. It is centered on the Almajiri syndrome in the northern part of Nigeria. The work is also being seen as one that would open the doors for Nigerians in other industries especially Bollywood. Currently in post production the film has stars from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa. Television also had an exciting year in Nigeria. Aside the consolidation of 'Tinsel' which has surpassed the 1000-episode mark in the year, the country welcomed another drama series, 'Shuga', directed by Biyi Bandele, who also directed Half of a Yellow Sun.

In 2013, Internet accessibility and appetite for African movies abroad also soared, making Iroko TV, run by Jason Njoku a bigger deal as he offered West African films to world audiences. But a telecommunications company took the step further by offering an application that avails Nigerian films on-the-go for a fee. The idea is already making the producers glad and grateful.

Justin Bieber’s Management Team Insist He Is Not Retiring

Justin Bieber is not retiring, according to representatives from the entertainment company he works with.

Earlier this week (December 25), the singer appeared to confirm that he was leaving his recording career behind via Twitter. Bieber, who had previously hinted that he was considering quitting the music industry, wrote:

My beloved beliebers I'm officially retiring
— Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) December 25, 2013

He went on to say that he would never leave his fans and wished them a happy Christmas, stating: "The media talks a lot about me.They make a up a lot of lies and want me to fail but I'm never leaving you, being a belieber is a lifestyle… Be kind loving to each other, forgive each other as god forgave us through Christ Merry Christmas IM HERE FOREVER".

However, according to the Wall Street Journal, the COO of Scooter Braun Projects, Scott Manson, has claimed that the singer is "100 percent" not retiring. Meanwhile, GM Allison Kaye added: "Justin is a hard working 19-year-old who would prefer that his recent fundraising work in the Philippines and the considerable amount raised for the cause be the media's focus more than the recent reporting on him retiring.

"Regarding his recent tweeting about his 'retirement' Justin felt that this was the best way to respond to the latest in a long line of inaccurate or wildly exaggerated media reports about him. He chose to channel his frustration into playing along with this baseless rumor and even used 'beloved' to tip off his core fans that it wasn't real.

She added: "But within 20 minutes, Justin realized that fans were confused by the media reports and clarified that he was kidding. This wasn't a planned stunt, it was just another day in the life of living under the microscope. Justin loves his fans and understands that this scrutiny comes along with his success and the interest in him from fans and media."

Justin Bieber's 3D concert movie Believe was released in Stateside cinemas earlier this month. He also released his new album, 'Journals' on December 23. In the run up to the album Bieber had been releasing a new track from the record each week under the umbrella of his Music Mondays series, including his collaboration with Chance The Rapper, 'Confident'.

Banker Arrested For Stealing N50m From Customers In Lagos

The Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, Lagos State, has arrested an account officer of Guaranty Trust Homes, Adeola Olokojobi, in connection with a N50m fraud at the financial institution. Prior to his arrest, Olokojobi was said to be working at the GT Homes, Saka Tinubu branch in Victoria Island.

"An internal investigation conducted by GT Homes into the account revealed that Olokojobi in April 2013, forged an instruction, transferring N15m from the petitioner's account, to an unknown account.

"The bank also discovered other various fraudulent withdrawals made by the account officer from other customers' accounts in his care through fake transfer instructions. It amounted to over N50m.

"He said the funds were used to finance his political campaign, a proposed pure water company and purchase of an uncompleted building at Sango-Ota, Ogun State."

The SFU, according to Punch, had received a petition in October 2013, from a customer of the branch where Olokojobi worked. The customer had alleged that Olokojobi, who was his account officer, had "not been forthcoming with his account balances."

A statement by the SFU Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, said, "The petitioner also alleged that the balance given to him was at variance with his actual balance in the account…

"Olokojobi in his confessional statement said he had fraudulently withdrawn monies amounting to N50,640,748 from the account of the customers by transferring funds into the accounts of fictitious customers and subsequently withdrawing same."

A banking and finance graduate, Olokojobi joined GT Homes in 2009.He, however, denied that he had fraudulently transferred over N50m, insisting that instead, it was N27m.

He said, "I didn't have to forge the instructions from GT homes customers. All I did was manipulate them. What happens is that they usually send instructions to the account officers by email, requesting that some money be transferred to an account of their choice. All I simply do is add another million or two to the sum the customer requested.

"It went unnoticed all this while because after using the money to do some business transactions, I always paid it back. I was into several businesses; I would buy land and resell for profit.

"I got into trouble with this one because I withdrew N15m at once from a customer's account; I didn't take it bit by bit, but I meant to pay it back. In fact, I had already started doing so before I was caught and arrested. But the police are not right in saying that the money I had withdrawn from customers amounted to N50m; it is N27m."

I hear the suspect would soon be charged to court, where he could answer for his actions.

Top Ten Hit Songs That Made 2013 In Nigeria

Picking ten best songs that rocked any year is like searching for ten slightly longer hays from evenly cut hays in a hay sack; long story short, this is not an easy task. With up and coming acts giving the old hands a run for their money, the Nigerian music scene is flooded with music that would give your heart a good dance exercise but then, somehow, these ten artists were able to distinguish themselves with their songs; making them our top ten best for the year 2013.

10. Eminado – Tiwa Savage ft Don Jazzy: The single came in May; sitting at number nine in the Mavin songstress 19 track album list Once upon a time, but not until the video directed by extra-gifted filmed maker Clarence Peters trumped airwaves in November did it sink down hot and hard in Naija's musicdom. The song with it's powerful hook-line remained at the top of many music charts for weeks.

9. Koma Roll – Tillaman ft Burnaboy, Iyanya, Ice Prince, Phyno: The single sizzles with talent especially from featured acts nailed even harder by the tongue twisting verses delivered by Ice Prince and Phyno. Tillaman who is relatively on the up and coming list released the song remix and video in May but it endured till the end of the year, making it a party favourite and relentless club banger.

8. Rihanna – Orezi: The song captures listeners from the very first second. Orezi who is a 2012 Channel O best ragga Dancehall nominee no doubt is a success story with earlier singles "Booty Bounce" and "Emoti" doing well on the airwaves. Orezi who showed a surprising strong voice in Rihanna released the single in February and was made even more magnetic with it's killer video and a model who looked so much like American singer Rihanna.

7. Emi ni Baller – Chidinma ft Illbliss & Tha Suspect: Emi ni Baller is Chidinma's second running hit single after Kedike which echoed in 2012. The song rode on the back of a powerful video released in January which saw the petite framed singer flaunt in rich designer costumes featuring her music pals Illbliss and Tha Suspect. The strong chorus is magnetic and it further cements Chidinma as a lady crooner who is far from going away.

6. Durosoke – Olamide: Lyricists and bad boy Olamide (literally) came with this powerful punch in July. The single with it's seductive upward-downward dance movements leaves little to your imagination. It was an instant hit, further fastening Olamide as one of Nigeria's most sought after artist. Durosoke turns out to be a Pandora's box of blessings, securing Olamide and his producers to several award nominations including The Headies.

5. Sho lee – Sean Tizzle: It was released back in February but it could be mistaken as a hit dropped only a few weeks ago. That's how infectious Tizzle's 'Sho Lee' ravaged fans. The single with strong rhymes and powerful beats completes every Disk Jockeys charts. Clubs raged with it for months and still are. The single catapulted Sean from relative obscurity to international stages.

4. Limpopo – Kcee: This single was Kcee's magic wand for the year. It made him so magnetic, mobile giant MTN came racing for him. He was irresistible in clubs, gals fell in love over and over again. His wriggling dance movements became a name; he just couldn't stop. Limpopo came in March but like Tizzle's Sho Lee, you'd think it just hit the airwave and true to every good song it has laced him to multiple award nominations.

3. Personally – P Square: With this single, P Square thumped a very clear message; that the influx of new talents in the music industry could never upstage them. After the mind numbing success of 'Alingo' that took 2012, P Square returned in June with stark images of the late pop god Micheal Jackson. In the gripping dance-drenched video, they stomped straight into the heart of fans; keeping their beats spectacularly alive, P Square forever remains 'Personally' with their fans.

2. Caro – Starboy ft Wizkid & LAX: Love is such a beautiful story to tell and it was told exceptionally by Wizkid and fast rising Starboy act LAX in this sizzling number. Caro once again re-echeos Wizkid's penning skills. It's a stripping song about the search for a mystery girl; completely gripping listeners when it hit airwaves in August. Its a dance number that could get a DJ shot if missed in raving clubs. A beautiful performance that not only showed brilliance on the part of the acts but the transformation that happens to a song when driven by a gripping story.

1. Ada Ada – Flavour: The high life singer emerged 'god-overall' this year in this classic piece that has left him a world stage of swaying worshipers. Flavour knew this song was going to be a hit and aptly prepared for it. The music video shot in high definition by Clarence Peters rolled a true to life wedding of a classic girl with ladies in waiting. Weddings nationwide now match to this song with non-Ibo's effortlessly singing along. Flavour proves once again that talent runs in his veins and beats in his heart. The song released in June sits pretty at our number one position and will stay with us for a very long time to come.

List compiled by Vanguardngr : Do you agree guys?

How A Popular Nigerian Musician Infected Me With STD’s [MUST READ]

Okay this is so hilarious to us, we know this is someone's plight and it shouldn't be funny, but hey, you are supposed to be smarter than this. A reader had an encounter with one of the reigning musicians who is also a music producer. we will have to remove his name from the mail, because we believe he is not the only male musician who has an infection. Bottom line, stay off entertainers.  But we know after reading her story, most of you will want to know who he is. So here is a clue, like we said, he is a musician and a music producer . Now the sell-out, his album made the top 10 albums of 2013 . And if you are still wondering who he is, then ha, you are not supposed to be here, you should be doing strictly CNN or BBC.  Find her unedited mail below...

Our Nigerian celebs like to take advantage of we females, let me tell you a personal experience I had with ___ ____ although I'm not sure if he's actually normal because of the amount of marijuana he consumes.

Anyway I met him and he kept calling me and promised me heaven and how I will be his wife. I agreed to see him & one thing led to another & we had sex. The condom broke in the process. I had a bad infection & was placed on antibiotics for a week & my doctor suggested that my partner should be treated. I called him severally after that day but he didn't pick up. I knew I had been cheated but still I wanted him to treat his infection instead of passing it around.

He has ignored me completely on the last months. I was having drinks with a couple of friends last night & co-incidentally both of them weresupposed to hook up with a celeb who I consider dirty & smelling, a complete drug addict. Although he's talented & makes good music. Although they have been going with the flow but I decided to expose him through this medium because a lot of other girls might not even know he's insane and also I saw a friend's cousin's tweet today that read 'omg' ___ ___ DM'd me.  Please kindly do a post about it so that girls won't fall victim.

Thanks

Man Detained For Allegedly Criticising Bayelsa Governor On Facebook

A businessman, Tonye Okio, spent his Christmas and will start the New Year at a Bayelsa prison for allegedly criticizing the Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, on his Facebook account.
Mr. Okio, who was also a former Abuja Liaison officer for Bayelsa State, was arrested on October 26 at his Abuja residence. He was subsequently blindfolded and driven to Bayelsa by the Special Investigation Bureau, SIB.  The police also stripped Mr. Okio of his mobile gadgets and all postings on his Facebook account, 'Tonye Okio', about Mr. Dickson was deleted.

Two days after his arrest, the Bayelsa police released a statement that Mr. Okio was arrested for seditious publications against the Bayelsa governor. "This is to inform the general public and the good people of Bayelsa State in particular that the Bayelsa police command has succeeded in apprehending one Tonye Okio 'M' of Otiokpoti, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State for the offence of seditious publications."The suspects whose syndicate members are now at large will be appropriately arraigned in court when investigation is complete," the police said.
The police then detained Mr. Okio for 10 days without trial. Mr. Okio's lawyer subsequently filed a case at a Bayelsa High Court demanding his fundamental rights be obeyed and he be charged to court if he has indeed done anything wrong.

A day before his fundamental rights case was to be heard, the police on November 5 charged the victim before a Magistrate Court for defamatory publication against the Bayelsa governor.
After taking his plea, the Magistrate Court adjourned the case to November 21 for trial.
When the case came up on November, 21, the magistrate court granted Mr. Okio, an aide to ex-Bayelsa governor, Timipriye Sylva, bail in what a civil society activist described as 'ridiculous conditions.'The bail conditions included N5 million with one surety in like sum who must be a permanent secretary in the state and resident within the court's jurisdiction. Following the ruling, the victim's lawyer, Doueyi Fiderikumo, prayed the court that it would be impossible to satisfy the condition because the complainant was the state governor who he suspected must have threatened most permanent secretaries in the state.

Sources close to the Bayelsa State government also told PREMIUM TIMES that no permanent secretary under the state's employ dare stand as surety for Mr. Okio out of fear of the governor.
Although an application was filed at the Nembe Division of the Bayelsa High Court in the state to demand a variation in the bail conditions, the court reportedly fixed three consecutive days for hearing and was unable sit on any of those days.
A ruling on the review of bail application was slated for December but was again adjourned by the presiding judge, J. Buofini. On the said date, the judge through the court's registrar notified counsels that the ruling on the bail review application was not ready; and therefore the case was adjourned tillJanuary 20.

Timaya Still Sees Me As A Threat- Oritse Femi Says

Oritse Femi who became popular after his hit track 'Mercies of Da Lord' where he featured Dagrin has said, Timaya still sees him as a threat. He revealed this to Vanguard Newspaper in an interview they had with him. His words;

But talking about Timaya, he is a good friend and right from time, Timaya has always seen me as a competitor. You know sometimes, someone can be your friend and still feels you are the only problem he has. The last time that I called him that we should do a song together, he said we are going to do it but he kept postponing it because he sees me as a threat. He doesn't want a situation whereby people will be comparing us.  Timaya is a good artiste and he has his own energy and he keeps doing what he knows how to do best but to me, I don't see him as a challenger. I can compete with any artiste in the world.
