At Microsoft's recent Ignite conference, Microsoft employee and developer evangelist Jerry Nixon, laid emphasis on the fact that Windows 10 will be the last major version of the operating system.
"Right now we're releasing Windows 10, and because Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, we're all still working on Windows 10."
The next update codenamed Windows Redstone is scheduled for a 2016 release, and though the numbers may not increase, performance is certainly expected to improve over each major and minor update.
