Below are the names of governors with private aircraft bought with tax payers' money and their cost;
Governor Godswill Akpabio:
The imposed PDP governors' forum chairman was formerly working with one private Telecommunication firm (PTO) located at Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos before he was elected Governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2007. He is now serving his second term in office as Governor of Akwa Ibom State. He acquired a state- of-art jet which set the state back by $45 million. The jet was manufactured in 2011 and it is with FAA registration number N224BH.
Governor Rotimi Amaechi:
He is the embattled Governor of Rivers State, is in this league too. His jet was said to have cost the state $50 million. It is a Bombardier Global 5000 with number N565RS which he acquired for his exclusive use, despite the fact that there was flood disaster in his state by the time he got the plane.
Governor Dambaba Suntai:
He is the Governor of Taraba State. He also bought Cessna 208, 5N-BMJ for himself. Suntai was described as an aviation enthusiast; as well own two other aircraft and a helicopter to the detriment of the people of his state. He crashed the Cessna 208, 5N-BMJj in 2012 when he was flying personally to Yola, Adamawa State.
These acquisitions of aircraft among Nigeria state Governors confirm the muddled priorities, corruption at the highest level in the administration of the state, where chief executives and their inner circle live in insensitive luxury despite the poor living condition of Nigerians.
Private jets are the new status symbol among top echelons who are entrusted or elected into power by the masses but turn to be oppressors''.
