The performer surpassed country singer Dolly Parton for the prestigious title.
After winning her 17th Grammy for "Love on Top" in the category for Best Traditional R&B Performance at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, Beyoncéwas one golden gramophone away from making even more Grammy history. With her recent nomination, she has now done so, becoming the most nominated woman ever.
Prior to Friday morning (Dec. 5), Queen Bey was tied with country music legendDolly Parton at 46 Grammy noms a piece. However, thanks to the "Partition" singer's Beyoncé album getting nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album, she now reigns supreme with 47 nods.
Beyoncé is still tied with producerDavid Foster for seventh place overall, however, since the entire Grammy nominees list has yet to be released in full, it is possible that she will pass him as well. She previously set Grammy records when she surpassed her own as one of the female artists to win the most awards in one night (she's at six, tied with Adele) and is one award away from tying with Aretha Franklin for most wins overall by a female artist.
The 57th Annual Grammy Awards will air Feb. 8 on CBS.
