Former World Player Of The Year To Contest For Post Of FIFA President

The former Real Madrid and Portuguese international has declared himself in the running to become the head of football's main governing body, just one day before the deadline for candidates.
Luis Figo has announced his decision to run for Fifa president at this year's election as he aims to dethrone current president in Sepp Blatter.
The Fifa statutes set the deadline for candidates to be proposed by member associations at four months before the start of the Congress and or the upcoming presidential elections this date is 29 January 2015.
Figo now has decided to enter the race one day before the deadline as he is determined to change the image of world football's governing body.
"I care about football, so what I'm seeing regarding the image of Fifa, not only now but in the past years, I don't like it," Figo said
"If you search Fifa on the internet you see the first word that comes out are not positive words. That's what we have to change first and try to improve the image that people have of Fifa. Football deserves much better than this.
"I've been talking with so many important people in football, players, managers, president of federations, and they all think that something has to be done.
I was in Brazil during the World cup and I saw the reaction of all the fans regarding the image of FIFA and I think something has to be changed.
