Natural Ways To Lighten Your Skin Tone

skin1
The color of your skin mainly depends on the pigment called melanin. Harsh weather conditions adversely affect our skin, expecially if you stay under the sun without any form of protection. Stress also can affect the general outlook of your skin tone, making it appear darker than it ought to.
It is not a totally bad idea to want to lighten your skin. If done properly, you are only restoring the natural skin tone. Of course people take it far when they ‘bleach’, using harsh cosmetic products. But this is not what I’m talking about here.
Check out the natural ingredients you can use to lighten your complexion without any side effects;
                                  Tomatoes
Tomatoes
Tomatoes
Tomatoes have natural bleaching and whitening property that help to lighten up your skin. Rich in vitamin C, and has astringent property that makes it a best remedy for treating the black skin, especially for the people who suffer from acne prone or oily skin.
Procedure:
Take a tomato (preferably small) and grate it to extract its pulp. Then take this pulp into your hands and apply this on all over the skin where you have dark discoloration on the skin. Allow it to dry completely for just few minutes and then apply another coating of this pulp on the same applied skin. Do the same process of reapply this pulp on the skin for about 15 to 25 minutes After completing the reapplication process, massage the applied area gently for a minute or two. Rinse it with water and do this daily to get rid of the dark pigmentation slowly on the skin.

                                       Yogurt
Yogurt
Yogurt
Yogurt is a by-product of milk that has many nutrients that are good for the skin. It also contains lactic acid that has bleaching properties. The following remedies are suitable for all skin types.
Procedure:
Gently rub plain yogurt onto your skin. Leave it on for a few minutes and then wash it off with warm water. Do this once daily for several weeks to notice a significant change in your complexion. You can also mix one tablespoon of fresh yogurt with one-half tablespoon of honey. Apply the mixture on your face and neck. Leave it on for about 10 to 15 minutes and then wash it off with water. Do this daily to improve your skin tone and complexion. You can also add a little lemon juice and some oatmeal to yogurt to make a thick paste, and apply it as a face mask. This will also help keep your skin supple and moisturized.
                                       Milk
Milk
Milk
Milk contains calcium that helps to regulate the normal color of the skin. It acts as an effective barrier to help fight against moisture loss, so that it prevents the skin from losing moisture that in turn is pivotal for keeping your skin tone. Regular taking of calcium based milk helps to stimulate the melanocytes which are the skin cells that produce melanin pigment. Lactic acid in milk helps to reduce the pigmentation of the skin to lighten up its complexion.
Procedure:
Get 1cup of milk, either goat’s or cow’s milk (is preferred) and place it on stove over medium heat. Make sure that the milk gets warm but not hot. Then get a clean cloth and soak it in the warm milk. Now take out the cloth and wring it to remove the excessive milk from the cloth. Remember that this wash cloth has to be fully soaked in warm milk but not to dip in it. Apply this cloth on the skin and rub it gently for few minutes till the cloth gets dried. Then soak it again in the milk and repeat the same process till you covered all the skin. Repeat this process of dipping, applying and rubbing for about 3 to 5 times continuously. Do this process every day for couple of weeks especially your shower and then follow it twice a week till you get rid of the dark skin.
                                 Orange
Orange
Orange
Orange contains vitamin C which is very essential for skin care. It also acts as bleaching agent to lighten up the skin tone. The regular intake of either orange or its fresh juice will improve help the overall skin texture and its suppleness.
Here are two ways that has to be used to lighten up the skin with these oranges.
Procedure:
Pour orange juice and turmeric powder in a bowl then mix it to make it paste and apply this paste on the face, neck, hands and legs at night time before you go to sleep. Leave it overnight and then rinse the paste applied area with water in the next morning. Continue doing this process daily until you get bright skin tone than before.
The second method is by using the orange peel; this process helps to lighten up the spots and other marks on the facial skin and finally makes you look young and beautiful with fair skin than before. This orange peel yogurt helps to remove the blackheads when massaged in circular motion. Take some orange peel and dry it completely under a shade, (not in sun) for few hours. After it dries completely, grind this peel to get it into powdered form. Then take a tablespoon of this powder and add this to plain but not flavored yogurt. Stir it well to make it like paste and apply the paste on the face, neck and other dark areas of the skin. Let it sit for about 20 minutes and then rinse it with water. Repeat the same for about 2 – 3 times a week to get rid of the dark patches on the skin and also to have even skin tone all over the body.
                                    Pawpaw
Pawpaw
Pawpaw
Papaya can also be used to lighten your skin complexion. Papaya contains natural bleaching properties and the various nutrients in it will make your skin glow with health. Eat papaya as a fruit. The general cleansing properties of papaya will cleanse the skin of impurities that could be causing it to darken.
Procedure:
Rub the inner part of the skin of a papaya on your face. Allow it to dry. Then wash your face with cold water and pat it dry. This will give your skin a nice glow. Do this daily. Mash a ripe papaya and mix it with one cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Massage the mixture all over your face and neck. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes before washing it off with cold water. Do this at least once a week to notice a visible change in your skin tone.
                            Cucumber
Cucumber
Cucumber
Cucumber will ensure that your skin is firm as well as supple. Supple and firm skin often has an even and light skin tone. Cucumber also has a cooling effect on your skin. It is suitable for all skin types.

Do this twice daily. Grate a cucumber and mix it with honey to make a spot-reducing mask. Apply the mask on your face and neck. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water. Do this twice daily for effective results. You can also mix one teaspoon each of lemon juice and cucumber juice. Apply it on your face, leaving it on for 15 to 20 minutes or until it dries. Wash it off with water. Do this once daily.
                                   Oatmeal
Oatmeal
Oatmeal
The best way to encourage the growth of new skin cells to improve your skin tone is to get rid of old skin cells. Oatmeal helps exfoliate the skin, leaving it supple and soft.
Procedure:
Mix oatmeal with tomato juice and apply the mixture on your face. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. While rinsing, rub it gently so that the oatmeal can scrub off the dead skin cells. Do this daily. Alternatively, mix one teaspoon of oatmeal powder, a pinch of turmeric and a few drops of lemon juice to make a thick paste. Apply it on your face and let it dry. Wash off the dry mask with water. Do this once daily.
Follow these natural remedies to lighten your skin complexion. However, note that these are very effective but will take time and patience to achieve your desired goal. The market is now flooded with skin-lightening creams and lotions. Some products actually have harmful chemicals that can ultimately damage your skin by giving you sunburn and even leads to deadly skin diseases.

5 helpful tips that can prevent stiff neck

It can be a painful and frustrating experience if you find it difficult to sway your neck from side to side especially when it leads to a headache, reducing your ability to concentrate.

Jovago.com, Africa's No 1 hotel booking portal shares 5 things you should stop doing to check stiff neck.

Overloading your backpack
Whether you are hiking or going on an adventure in the mountains of Taraba, you don't need to overload one backpack with everything you need. Rather than carrying excess baggage, distribute it among your adventurous friends or pull a cart along with you on the journey to lessen the pressure.

Wearing a bag on one shoulder
Wearing your bag on one shoulder can put unnecessary pressure on it, in the long run, this can result in serious neck pain. It is best to wear your bag on two shoulders and walk with a steady gait while at it.

Holding your phone with your shoulders
Your shoulders are not for receiving calls. But, this habit is rampant among many phone users who use this part of their body as a prop while making or receiving phone calls. If this habit helps you multitask, it is helpful to put all other duties on hold while speaking over the phone and resume after speaking.

Pay attention to your posture
The way you sit, stand and walk can determine if you will have an amazing posture. This also applies to a stiff neck. If you sit or walk haphazardly, your neck will bear the brunt because it is located between your back and head. As a solution, exercise often to achieve a posture that will not trigger neck pain.

Doctor's office
If you suffer from a stiff neck frequently, pay your doctor's office a visit.  Severe neck pains can lead to  headaches, nausea, vomiting, night sweats and the inability to fall or stay asleep.

Buhari To Employ 100,000 Police Officers, Put CCTV In Major Towns & Cities

president-buhari

Against the backdrop of checkmating crime, and criminal tendencies among youths arising from the problems of massive unemployment in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the federal government is emplacing appropriate framework that will facilitate the employment of an extra 100, 000 Police officers.

Additionally, he said government is to establish properly trained and equipped federal anti- terrorism, multi-agency task force that will effectively address the challenge of Boko Haram and any form of insurgency in a sustainable manner.

Speaking at the one day National Security Summit organized by the Nigerian Police force and Sun Newspapers in Abuja with the theme 'Community partnership approach to internal security and crime management' yesterday, Buhari said, "In order to further strengthen the security of the public space, consideration is being given to the expansion of the CCTV Monitoring System across major cities and towns in the country while police accountability mechanism will be strengthened".

According to the President, "The need for community input to policing and crime management in Nigeria has even become more imperative considering our current national security challenges in which kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, transnational crimes, terrorism and other organized crimes have evolved to threaten our national values and developmental strides".

"While it is understandable that unemployment, illiteracy, radicalization, negative peer group influence, substance abuse and erosion of family and moral values are social factors that underline criminal tendency, the reality remains that the task of addressing these challenges is that of parents, community and the state".

Disclosing that efforts are being made to enhance the operational capacity of officers of the Nigeria Police force through tailor made training programme that will give them the right civil orientation in their roles as guardians of the constitution, the President said his administration will encourage the development of state-level community policing under a model that will integrate members of the community to policing functions at the grassroots level.

Commending the leadership of the police force for appreciating the yearning of members of the public by ordering the dismantling of police road blocks which have consistently constituted a dark side of policing and object of discord between the police and the citizenry, Buhari said the initiative of the IGP to introduce the 'Safer Highway Motorized Patrol Scheme' and deploy 555 patrol vehicles along all major highways to fill the void created has reassured the citizens of their safety and security".

In his remarks, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar called on the federal and state governments to face the task of reforming and re-positioning our national institutions; including the Nigeria Police force and related agencies.

"It is imperative, to ensure that our security agencies truly become 21st century organizations able to discharge their mandates effectively and efficiently.

We should be able to cater to their operational needs and to the welfare of their members. When we state that they serve and protect, we should mean it by word and deed".

"Secondly, our national security agencies must join the crusade against corruption, with commitment and determination. Regardless of how well trained and equipped an organization is, it cannot attain its full potential if it allows corruption and corrupt elements to grace its corridors.

Those who conspire to corrupt our national institutions from the outside must face the same consequences as those who do it from within", the Sultan said.

ICCO URGES NIGERIA TO INCREASE COCOA PRODUCTION

cocoa
International Cocoa Organisations (ICCO) has urged Nigeria to work towards increasing cocoa production in the country.
ICCO Executive Director, Jean-Marc Anga also asked all relevant stakeholders to ensure Nigeria benefits from the $400 million it has sourced from international financiers to improve cocoa production among its member countries.
Anga said this during a three-day seminar with the theme: “Implementation Meeting of the Cocoa Price Risk Management Project” organised by the Cocoa Association of Nigeria (CAN), in collaboration with the ICCO, Agence Francaise De Development (AFC), and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
He said “A few months ago, the ICCO secretariat in his efforts to secure additional financial resources for its member countries, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African cocoa sector.
“To increase value-added cocoa production; To promote chocolate consumption; To empower women in the cocoa value chain; To develop profitable cocoa farming models; To improve access to credit and; To increase market access.
“These project activities will be implemented in major cocoa producing countries in Africa and therefore in Nigeria.
“Through its membership of the ICCO, Nigeria has benefited, among others, from ten major development projects. Each of these projects have tackled specific issues and challenges faced by the Nigerian cocoa sector, namely, farm management practice, market access, competitiveness and price risk management. The latter is the subject of the current project.
“The Nigerian benefits stemming from these ICCO projects were outstanding. Through its involvement in ICCO projects over the years, Nigeria received nearly $US 40 million for a local contribution of almost $US 3.9 million. You will agree with me that this is a rather handsome rate of returns.
The Executive Director, Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, Ibadan, Professor Malachy Akoroda also added that Cocoa is the highest foreign exchange earner outside crude oil.
He said cocoa alone contributed $US 666.45 million, being 27.7 per cent of the nation’s earnings from agricultural produce and solid minerals sector.
He implored the federal government to provide all necessary support for cocoa farmers

Galaxy 4 Peace is excited to announce their annual peace walk tagged "Sweat4Peace", which is aimed at commemorating this year's International Day of Peace. It is coming on the heels of the 100 Days countdown, inaugurated by the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon to mark this special occasion, calling on people  reaffirm their commitment to living in harmony as members of a single human family.

The International Day of Peace has been set aside, to have a unique moment to celebrate a day of peace across the globe.  This day was first established in 1981 by resolution 36/67 of the United Nations General Assembly. In 2001, the General Assembly by unanimous vote adopted resolution 55/282, which established 21st September as an annual day of non-violence and cease-fire.

According to Moon, this year's commemoration, "Partnerships for Peace — Dignity for All", highlights the importance of cooperation in silencing guns and advancing the cause. He stressed that "without the support of: governments, civil societies, the private sector, faith-based groups and non-governmental organizations; peace will remain elusive".

Over the next 100 days, let us stand with the millions of people across the world who are suffering the devastating effects of violence and conflict, lets us stand with our brothers and sisters affected by the insurgency in Northern Nigeria, Let us share ideas and plans for helping and supporting them in their time of dire need.

Peace is not only about stopping wars in countries. It is about recognizing the conflict in our own lives and committing to take the first action towards peaceful dialogue and reconciliation.

Speaking  with newsmen, Galaxy4Peace Co-Founder,  Precious Ajunwa  stressed that this year's peace-day objective is  to  demonstrate the importance of cooperation as  people  come  together – a partnership to further create and advocate for a more sustaining enabling environment for a culture of peace.

She further noted that "as citizens who are conscious of the challenging times Nigeria & the world faces,  we need to continue participating  by taking up shared responsibilities, to wisely construct and build our collapsed environment for a better world for all.  We are glad that peace still prevails, which is evident and can be felt in the numerous peace projects all over the world, despite the many difficulties and conflicts that abound andwe must confess, it doesn't get better than this as peace-builders!

"Let's note that as we countdown to this day, one of the values of a "count-down" is to be more thoughtful and engaged in the theme, and also to showcase  what peace  means to us as we get closer to the day of celebration. As we plan our events and continue working for reigns of peace culture in the world over, may we continually experience Living in Peace instead of answering the question: "Is Peace Possible"? Ajunwa added.

Join other Peace fans, CSOs and Corporate Bodies, at the Walk with Galaxy 4 Peace to observe 2015 World Peace Day. Enjoy face-painting, music, tickets to peace meal date, and other forms of entertainment.

President Buhari Making Moves To Produce Weapons Locally

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in Abuja directed the Federal Ministry of Defence to produce a plan for the establishment of a Military Industrial Complex for the local production of weapons to meet some of the requirements of the country's armed forces.

President Buhari while speaking at the graduation ceremony of the National Defence College, described Nigeria's current over-dependence on other countries for critical military equipment and logistics as unacceptable,.

Follow the jump to read what Buhari said while speaking about the issue:

President Buhari said: "We must evolve viable mechanisms for near-self-sufficiency in military equipment and logistics production complemented only by very advanced foreign technologies. The Ministry of Defence is being tasked to draw up clear and measurable outlines for development of a modest Military Industrial Complex for Nigeria. In this regard, it is to liaise with other strategic MDAs and industries to re-engineer the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) to meet national military hardware and logistics requirements,"

President Buhari also told the gathering that his administration since assuming office have reviewed the nature and character of Nigeria's security threats and challenges.

"We recognized first and foremost, the external dimensions of these threats and the need for international cooperation and common security mechanisms to tackle them," President Buhari said.

President Buhari also added that in light of this realization, his administration was convinced that the best approach was to work within the framework of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) to mobilize a collective regional effort in the fight against terrorism and insurgency. The President therefore urged the graduates, officers and men of the Armed Forces to work harder to win the war against Boko Haram, terrorism and insurgency.

He told them saying: "We must apply a comprehensive strategy and coordinate all elements of national power against terrorism and insurgency; we must show result oriented leadership at all levels of military Command; we must set up an optimal organization to manage and sustain operational performance; and we must show confidence and winning mentality,"

The President also assured that the Federal Government under his leadership will strive to meet the operational, logistic, training and welfare requirements of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He also reaffirmed his commitment to ameliorating the hardships of people living in areas most affected by insurgency and terrorism.

He assured Nigerians saying: "We have the will, resolve and conviction to apply a comprehensive strategy and coordinate all elements of national power against terrorism and insurgency,""

President Buhari said that the National Defence College had fulfilled the vision of its founding fathers, by becoming a strategic human capacity-building institution, making credible contributions to Nigeria and other friendly countries.

The President urged all graduates of the College's Course 23 to resolve to make "a marked difference in your future deployment and contribute your quota to the evolution and implementation of national security, defence and military strategies. You should be the source that lights up the environment wherever you find yourselves."
